HT Micron. part of the Hana Group in South Korea, based in Brazil, is a relatively new entrant to the DRAM chip market. It has a DRAM wafer fabrication facility in Brazil. Mosaid Technologies, although not listed, was one of the historically first DRAM design companies. Today Mosaid licenses IP Core technology to companies in the technology industry.
Because of the shortage of DRAM chip wafer fabrication capacity and the very few companies that manufacture DRAM chips, flash memory chip wafer-fab based companies in Japan and in China are exploring different ways to enter the DRAM market, develop products that will compete with DRAM. Western Digital, a leading flash module and solid state drive company, has ties with Kioxa, a major flash chip company. Micron Technology recently announced that it would acquire Powerchip in Taiwan, which has a DRAM wafer fab facility.
